Laura Dern is opening up about filming the sex scenes with Liam Hemsworth for their new movie Lonely Planet.
In the Netflix movie, the 57-year-old Oscar-winning actress plays a reclusive novelist, who “arrives at a prestigious writer’s retreat in Morocco, hoping the remote setting will unlock her writer’s block. While there, she meets a young man (Hemsworth, 34) — what starts as an acquaintanceship evolves into an intoxicating, life-altering love affair.”
In a new interview, Laura revealed what it was like filming the sec scenes with Liam.

“By the time we were doing those scenes, there was nothing we couldn’t talk about together and work out creatively, professionally, all of that,” Laura explained. “But we also had a lot of support. We had much, much discussion.”
Laura went on to call the process “incredible … that film and filmmaking have changed so that everyone is comfortable in their voice and can set boundaries comfortably without fear of losing a job or being unpopular.”
“We both, as young actors, have had a lot of other kinds of experiences on movies,” she added.
As for Liam, he agreed that he and Laura became very close while making the movie.
“There were times when we were shooting in the Marrakesh markets where we couldn’t even see the camera,” Liam recalled. “We were completely immersed in it.”
“The whole experience of filming was that it just felt like we were hanging out and it was getting captured at the same time,” Liam added, noting that he felt at times that the were just “hanging out as Laura and Liam, and someone was filming it somewhere.”
