“We want our kids’ lives to be as ‘normal’ as possible. They’re going to be born into such an extraordinary situation. They’re going to have to be some strong little people,” Hannah wrote. “We don’t want them to be defined by their dad’s name — for them, we want him to just be ‘Dad.’ That will be the piece of him they’ll have that the rest of the world doesn’t. It will be special, and it will be theirs.”
They welcomed eldest daughter Bella Raine on August 17, 2017.
Hannah then revealed that she was expecting their second child in September 2018 when she put her baby bump on full display during a night out in New York City.
The couple’s second daughter Story Grey was born on January 31, 2019.
For baby No. 3, the couple kept their pregnancy entirely out of the spotlight and they surprised fans by announcing the birth of daughter River Rose on December 2, 2021 via tweet from The Players’ Tribune.
The couple then surprised fans again by announcing the birth of their son Kaius Green in May 2023, sharing a post on Instagram that he was born on May 5, 2023.
Derek then jokingly changed his Instagram bio to “Sleep-deprived father of four.”
Derek and Hannah usually keep their children out of the spotlight, but the three girls, before Kaius‘ birth, made an appearance at Yankee Stadium in September 2022 when Derek was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
