What began out as a Parks and Recreation bit a couple of group of ladies gathering for an annual breakfast on Feb. 13 has developed into Galentine’s Day, a real-life custom for gal friends to honor their unbreakable bond. As Amy Poehler‘s Leslie Knope explains on the episode of the NBC comedy: “Women celebrating women. It is like Lilith Honest, minus the angst.”
And in contrast to Valentine’s Day—which is often geared towards {couples}—the vacation could be loved by singletons and those that are in a relationship alike.
Whereas detailing the origin story of Galentine’s Day in 2019, sequence co-creator Michael Schur mentioned the yearly custom was dreamed as much as “get rid of the romantic side” of Valentine’s Day “as a result of it is exclusionary to individuals who aren’t in romances.
